Students show their spirit by dressing crazy

Spirit Weeks are major at Rolla High School, they are exciting and joyful. Many people have certain spirit days that they enjoy the most.

“I like the one with the pajamas and the one where we had the favorite Disney characters because I love Disney movies and, I really like Disney characters,” junior Peyton Dent said.

“Well, since I beat Fletcher [senior Fletcher Collins] in the superhero dress-up day, I would have to say superhero would have to be my best,” Leadership teacher Jamie Cantrell said.

There are also a lot of students who are involved in school sports, and/or other activities to show school spirit.

“I find it’s very important [to show school spirit for school] because there’s so many of us [band students], that we can show our school support very easily,” junior Ashlyn Miller said.

Being in a sport contributes a lot of school spirit to the school.

“Yes because it is kind of our job as a cheerleader [to show school spirit],” Dent said.

Leadership puts on many events at RHS, but spirit weeks aren’t one of those events.

“No, we actually don’t put on any spirit weeks, except for if we have a senior week, we might do like seniors for senior apparel for one day or something like that. But we don’t actually put on any spirit weeks, but my leadership students have to dress up when others [like] student council or you know… key club or somebody does the spirit week,” Cantrell said.

Is it important to dress up on spirit weeks?

“I think everyone should dress up even if it’s just like very simple dressing up. Just showing your school spirit,” Miller said.

“I don’t think it’s important to dress up, ever. Clothing is clothing. I think it is important to show support for your school. So if your school asks you to dress up then I think you should,” Cantrell said.
