Students enjoy ‘night of worship’ at Greentree Church

Greentree Christian Church is a thriving non-denominational fellowship for believers in Christ. This is one, if not the, largest church in Rolla, Missouri. With so many people in the congregation there is always something to do. On Thursday, April 14, 2016 it was no different.
Greentree Christian Church hosted a night of worship with four bands in attendance. The Time of My Life Tour was headlined by The Afters. The Afters are a Christian pop rock band founded by two of the band members. The members first worked together in a Starbucks coffee shop in Mesquite, Texas, where they played for customers, before deciding to form a band. They have had many number one hits, stadium concerts, and years of experience. Greentree was a small scale concert for them, but they were still excited to lead us in worship.
Chris August, Unspoken, and Among the Thirsty opened for The Afters. Chris August is an American Contemporary Christian. He began recording as a secular musician before switching to Christian music. August is a three time GMA Dove Award winner. Even though, this was a smaller concert than what all of the bands are used to they explained why they liked the venue.
“Greentree was so welcoming, and we did not deserve the amazing hospitality” August said.
The next band, Unspoken, is an American Christian pop rock band. They have had four straight Top 5 AC singles in their career including “Who You Are,” “Lift My Life Up,” “Start A Fire,” and “Good Fight,” with “Start A Fire” reaching No. 1; the song “Life My Life Up” was also included on the 2015 WOW Hits Release. Unspoken continues to climb the charts and the Christian music industry. Listeners in the audience has there own opinions about Unspoken.
“In my opinion, Unspoken was the best band all night” Senior, Hannah Pritchett said.
The final band, is Among the Thirsty. They are an American contemporary Christian music and worship band based out of Clearwater, Florida. They released, Wonder, with Rev Music Group in 2008, and their song, “I’d Need a Savior”, appeared on various Christian Song charts published by Billboard magazine. Their second album, Who You Say I Am, was released by BEC Recordings in 2015, this album saw two songs, “What Love Looks Like” and “Completely”, appear on various Christian Song charts. Students at Rolla High School developed a new outlook from Among the Thirsty.
“I had never heard of Among the Thirsty before, but by the end of the night I loved them. They had a raw talent about them, I mean, it was impressive” Junior, Nick Roshan said.
This event was an amazing outreach opportunity for Greentree Christian Church. Praise and worship leader at Greentree, Nathan Hall, was the coordinator for this event.
“All in all, this event went good. We had a lot of people from surrounding towns, and some people were able to learn more about Christ. This was a lot of work, but very rewarding in the end” Hall said.
