Student representative to the school board elected

Sophomore Jesse Liu was recently elected student representative to the Rolla school board by the student body.
“My main job is to provide insight on how all the schools in the Rolla district are doing and give feedback to the Rolla public school district. For example, there is a board meeting today, January 8th, and tell the board the high school basketball team had a tournament and we got second, and notify them of any upcoming dances, just little tidbits at the end of the meeting,” said Liu.
Liu provides the board with insight to the high school, but he also tells them about what is going on at every public school. If the middle school is having a field day soon, he lets the board know.
“I don’t just do the high school, I represent the whole district. I got to check on the school website, I try to get in touch with the principals of the schools or actually go to the schools if I can,” Liu said
Liu also voices teachers opinions.
“If a student wants something to be expressed, I can talk to [the board], if a teacher wants something expressed, like they need more textbooks, I do my best to let the school board know. For instance, Mrs. Tumbrink came up to me and requested for the band to come play for their next robotics competition, said Liu. “But my main job is to represent the students and to tell the school district what’s going on with all students in the district.”
