School pride is back!

It’s no secret that school spirit has been declining over the past few years, but is it on its way back?

A few of the students and teachers are coming up with ideas every day to help bring some spirit back. So far, RHS has brought back the kick off dance and has established a pep club. This pep club is organizing school events to produce more school pride in the students with buses going to away games, prizes being given during spirit weeks, and rivalry activities with other pep clubs from other schools. One could tell from the recent pep assembly that there was an air of excitement that seemed to be missing in the past.

Even students from other schools can feel the new found school pride at RHS. At the recent Rolla vs. Rockbridge soccer game, an opposing player tweeted, “I wish we had a student section like Rolla did. They were hype!” and at an away football game the home cheerleaders were heard yelling at their student section to, “Be more like Rolla’s student section.”

With a new set of seniors and a renewed sense of school spirit, it should be an exciting year to come.
