Lights moving, music blaring, warm air circulating, everyone who was at the Rolla High School Courtwarming dance experienced the vitality. Courtwarming king Andy Satulla and queen Brooklyn Boheme truly expressed great gratitude at the Winter Wonderland that Saturday night. All of the contestants were very supportive of each other and the night was memorable. “It was very surprising [and] definitely unexpected. I feel very honored and humbled to have been thought of. It was very exciting, and I’m very happy,” Boheme said. Though the outcome was unforeseen, there were no complaints on who received the honors. “I guess it was pretty cool to win. I didn’t really mind if I won or lost, and I didn’t really expect it. I thought Nathan was going to win,” Satulla said. Once the winners are announced, it is usually tradition for the king and queen to have a dance, however, that implied rule was broken that night. “All eight of us thought it would be funny if the king and queen didn’t dance, so when they announced us, we just kind of looked at each other. Emily [Cates] whispered that we should shake hands, so we did, and I think it was really funny,” Boheme said. Even without the special spotlight dance, the contestants as well as the crowd were joyous and pleased with something different. “We shook hands, because before the winners were announced, we all decided not to dance and instead do something funny, so me and Brooklyn had a little stare down and shook hands to make it official,” Satulla said.
