Millikin University choir comes to Rolla

Last night the First Baptist Church of Rolla Millikin University Choir directed by Brad Holmes hosted a free concert for the public.
The Choir has 47 auditioned students from Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois, including alumni from Rolla High School. They presented a selection of pieces from a variety of genres and styles that span five centuries.
The Choir has been called by Tim Brown, one of the most famous conductors in the world, “a rare combination of vocal technique and true soul”. They have sung in the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., and numerous countries which includes Haiti, the Dominican Republic, England, China, Taiwan, and, recently, the Baltic States. They have also performed in multiple regional and state conventions and were specifically chosen to sing at the March 2011 American Choral Director’s Association convention in Chicago.
2015 marks the return of Millikin University choirs to Rolla. Last year, the Millikin vocal jazz group, One Voice, toured and sang for the community.
