New Blood for a New Season

Hey, football fans! There’s a new face on our sidelines – newly named head coach, William Howard. Coach Howard may be new to his position, but he is very familiar with the football team.

“I have been the assistant coach at Rolla for the past 5 years,” Howard said.

His aspirations for the season are simple.

“My goals for the team is for us to improve each week, become better as the year goes on, and be ready for district playoffs,” Howard said.

While football may be a rough n’ tumble sport, Howard’s anticipations for the players are reachable.

“My expectations for the players are for them to be accountable for what they do on and off the field and to be model students here at the high school,” Howard said.

After losing key players from last season, Howard worries about a lack of prospects this year.

“We need more kids coming out for the football team, we’re short on numbers this year,” Howard said.

While being a new coach means bringing your own tactics and traditions to the team, the goal is always the same.

“[I am] just trying to keep the momentum going from a successful program,” Howard said.
