Wrestlers bring home four state medals

The wrestling team has ended their season with three state medal winners in their respective weight divisions; sophomore Coleman Brainard placed third, and seniors Gage Maxwell and junior Tristan Barr placed fourth. Senior Seth Veatch placed sixth and seniors Tyler Lambeth and Ryan Markovic advanced in his weight division after day one.

The team had a sendoff in the form of a parade through the halls of the high school on their way to the conception where they were recognized and applauded by their peers for their success.

“It was awesome that the whole school got together to support the wrestling team. They work so hard to make it to state and I’m glad we got to congratulate them on their hard work,” senior Jenny Bai said.

As for next year, Coach Marty Hauck is already preparing on how to improve from his outstanding performance with his wrestlers this year.

“The boys wrestled really well this year especially considering there are two hundred fifty teams wrestling in the state of Missouri and we took ninth. I’d definitely like to keep the numbers up so that means getting more kids involved. And definitely going to have to improve our intensity and learn when to be a little meaner on the mat. But we’ve started off season already and I’m really looking forward to what next year holds for us,” Hauck said.
