Crypto currencies help the Jamaican Bobsled Team

With the upcoming winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, many teams have been fighting for a position to compete on the Olympic stage. When these teams qualify themselves, they go onwards to Sochi to compete on a national stage. One such team to qualify is the Jamaican Bobsled Team. Though from a tropical country, this team has qualified itself for the winter Olympics since 1988 when they debuted in Alberta.

The world stage can wait though, because without money to pay for flights and entrance, no team can compete and the Jamaican team did not have enough money until Dogecoin and others decided to help. (Dogecoin is one of a family of currencies called cryptocurrencies.) Campaigns running all throughout the internet worked to raise enough money to pay the team’s training and equipment costs, and soon, the 80,000 dollars goal was surpassed. Popularity from Reddit and Imgur gave Dogecoin a massive boost in users and also the campaign based in Dogecoin raised 30,000 dollars to contribute towards the central campaign.

The Jamaican Bobsled Team will now be seen in Sochi and will as all the previous years be a fan favorite, just now, the fans will have funded the team too.
