Students plan ‘break’ for service in India

Students plan break for service in India

Over Spring Break, several students take a vacation with their families or hangout at home with their friends. But, this Spring Break, a group of 9 students and 5 adults will be taking the trip of a lifetime to India.

“I am going to India during spring break for a missions trip my church is taking. We are going to be in a few places but the main ones are New Delhi and Damoh. We will be working with CICM which is Central India Christian Missions. They have a children’s hospital and youth center and we will be working with them throughout our trip,” junior Brittany Miller said.

With India being on the other side of the world from Missouri, some students going on the trip explain what made them so interested in going on the trip.

“With an interest in student ministry, I am most looking forward to teaching lessons, worshiping, and playing games with kids my age,” junior Maddy Jones said.

Hannah Blakely, a senior at Rolla High School, shares her excitement about the trip and what she will take from the experience.

“[What] I’m looking forward to the most is being able to see the Women and Children’s Ward of the CICM supported hospital that the church helped fund. I want to go on Medical Mission Trips after I earn my nursing degree, so it will be super cool to go and learn about the culture and practices compared to the states,” Blakley said.

Another senior at Rolla High, Hannah Pritchett, has already been on this India trip, but cannot wait to go again.

“I traveled to India my freshman year and I fell in love with the country and the people there. I promised the girls that I met in the orphanage we visited that I would come back and visit them one day and ever since have prayed for a chance to fulfill this promise. God has provided me with an incredible opportunity to not only visit a country that I love, but to do it with some of my best friends as well,” Pritchett said.
